Tata Motors is set to launch its all electric SUV, named Tata Punch EV.Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM) has confirmed that It is scheduled to be launched on January 17, 2024. Bookings have already commenced with a token amount of Rs. 21,000. It can be booked through the official website or directly at the showroom.

The Tata Punch EV possesses a unique quality as it is marks the first electric car from Tata Motors designed under Tata’s new architecture, named Acti.ev, which stands for ‘Advanced Connected Tech-Intelligent Electric Vehicle’.

Alongside the ‘Punch EV’ the next 04 Tata’s electric cars from Tata, will be manufactured using the architecture. Therefore, there will be something new and special about this electric car.

Tata Punch EV: Interior Features

Tata has not provided a detailed glimpse of the Punch EV’s interior yet; however, substantial changes are anticipated. The cabin will feature a novel 10.25-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, a new two-spoke steering wheel, and a jeweled rotary drive selector on the center console. An image on Tata’s website hints at a revamped HVAC control panel resembling that of the Nexon EV, equipped with toggle switches and haptic buttons.

Regarding features, the top-tier Punch EV is set to boast a 360-degree camera, leatherette seats, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, connected car technology, a wireless charger, ventilated front seats, cruise control, a sunroof, and the new Arcade.ev app suite. Notably, some of these features mark a first for a vehicle of this size.

Punch EV: Battery and Range

While comprehensive technical specifications for the Punch EV are not yet disclosed, it is confirmed to be available in two variants: Standard and Long Range, expected to house 25kWh and 35kWh battery packs, respectively. The former supports a 3.3kW AC charger, while the latter offers an additional 7.2kW AC charger with DC fast charging capability.

Built on the acti.ev modular platform, the Punch EV is estimated to achieve a range between 300-600km, dependent on the model and battery. For this particular model, a range of 300-400km appears reasonable. The platform represents a significant advancement from the Gen 1 architecture, incorporating substantial modifications over the ICE platform.

‘Tata Punch EV’ Rivals and expected Price

Targeting the Citroen eC3, the Tata Punch EV will be positioned between the Tiago EV MR and the Nexon EV MR, suggesting a price range between Rs 10 lakhs and 15 lakhs, ex-showroom.
